(CNN) – Ivanka Trump will have an office in the West Wing of the White House, an official told CNN on Monday.
The official also confirmed that Trump will seek a security clearance and communication devices provided by the government, even though she is not a government employee.
The movement places the daughter of President Donald Trump, one of his closest advisers, at the center of his government, after weeks in which, without any formal role, he appeared with the president and high-level employees in the Major meetings with world leaders and business figures.
Politico reported the news in the early hours of Monday.
Ivanka Trump’s husband, Jared Kushner, has been a senior adviser to the White House since the beginning of the administration. The Department of Justice at the time evaluated that the contract did not violate the laws against nepotism.
Trump, like his father, has commercial interests across the country and around the world. With a position in the West Wing and the search for access to classified information, a new wave of scrutiny has been created on conflicts in government between public functions and private interests.
Trump’s adviser, Kellyanne Conway, faced strong criticism after she touted Ivanka Trump’s fashion line on television, but the White House chose not to penalize her.
Like his brothers Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, Ivanka plays an active role in his father’s commercial interests, both in his real estate empire and on the reality TV show The Apprentice.
